Doing Business Gently: Business Clarity and Personal Branding for Women with Online Service Based Businesses

Business Clarity, Alignment & Personal Branding for Women. ** Do you ever wonder if there is a different way to do business?  ** Have you ever felt like something was wrong with you because your business feels so hard? ** Or have you ever asked yourself, shouldn’t I know what I want to be when I grow up by now? Maybe you’re a massive introvert, shy, or considered an HSP, a highly sensitive person, or maybe you feel like you’ve never really fit into what and who the standard online business coaching says you need to be in your business. Does any of this sound familiar? I’m raising my hand as a founding member of that club. Welcome fellow misfit. Hey there. I’m Marta Goertzen, host of the Doing Business Gently podcast. If your business feels hard and nowhere near gentle, I’m glad you are here. This is a safe place where we will be talking about: ** Life business integration, and we approach that idea of integration through creating an aligned business that fits you, your values and priorities, your personality, and the current season of life you are currently in. ** We also do that by talking about finding business clarity so that you’re not constantly second guessing every decision that you make in your business. ** And maybe even more importantly, we are going to talk about working from a habit and a place of rest. ** From time to time, we’re also going to ask the question, where does our faith fit into our entrepreneurial journey as we are creating a gentle business? If you are ready for tips, ideas, resources, and engaging conversations on developing healthy business habits and routines to help you uncover, or maybe remember your entrepreneurial identity,  build a strong personal brand that grows with you and how to build a business based on your values and priorities, you are in the right place.  The goal of this podcast is to help women just like you develop online businesses that honors your need for rest, create a flexible and agile business that fits the current season of life you are in and the space to figure it all out. Today we are diving into a topic that has been on my mind lately: commitment to business success.
This question about commitment has been brought to my attention by various mentors and in different contexts, forcing me to take a deep dive into my own level of dedication.
I've been asking myself some hard-hitting questions, such as:
How truly committed am I to my business success?
Are my beliefs aligning with my actions?
Am I actively pursuing business clarity as my company evolves?
And most importantly, am I committed to the priorities I've set for my business?
It's all too easy to set goals and then forget about them, or to lose sight of our priorities over time. I've experienced this firsthand, where I would set goals at the beginning of a quarter, only to completely forget about them as time went on. It's a habit that I need to actively work on and improve.
Forgetting or neglecting our goals is a clear indication that we are not truly committed to them, and this lack of commitment can have a significant impact on our businesses.
So, in this episode, we're going to explore three ways to evaluate our commitment to our business success.
But before we dive into the topic, let's establish a common understanding of the word "commitment."
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, commitment is defined as an agreement or a pledge to do something in the future. It's a promise we make to ourselves and others. It also refers to the state of being emotionally impelled or driven forward. In other words, commitment involves a strong moral pressure that urges us to take action.
Now, armed with this definition, I want you to reflect on your own business priorities and goals.
How committed are you to them?
Do your daily, weekly, and monthly actions align with your stated priorities?
And most importantly, what are your business results saying about your level of commitment?
To help you assess your commitment, we'll explore three key areas: business habits, calendar management, and goal alignment. By asking ourselves the right questions and evaluating our current state, we can gain valuable insight into our level of dedication.
So let's dive in and discover just how committed we are to our business success.

I’m excited to dive into a topic that is so important for busy entrepreneurs like us - self-care.
As women over 50, we often find ourselves juggling multiple responsibilities - running a business, taking care of aging parents or family caregiving, and trying to maintain a healthy work-life balance. It's no wonder we sometimes forget to prioritize our own rest and well-being.
In today's episode, we'll be exploring the concept of creating your very own "Take-A-Break Kit." This idea came to me during my recent camping trips, where I realized that my usual idea of vacationing needed a revamp. Instead of filling my schedule with activities and exploration, I found myself craving deep rest and relaxation.
Through these experiences, I was reminded that rest doesn't have to be complicated, and it's essential to adapt our self-care routines to our current needs and season of life. As entrepreneurs, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day tasks and forget to listen to our bodies and give ourselves the rest we truly need.
We'll be exploring ways to simplify self-care and create personalized Take-A-Break Kits that cater to our specific needs. We'll discuss the cumulative effects of stress and toxic hustle, and how neglecting rest can impact our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
I'll also share some of my own personal experiences and signals that indicate it's time for me to take a break. Remember, everyone's signals will be different, so take a moment to identify your own and prioritize your well-being.
I'm here to guide you on this journey of discovery and help you find the clarity and confidence to build a sustainable business and live a life filled with intentional rest. So, let's kick off this new series on self-care and dive into creating our own Take-A-Break Kits. Thank you for joining me on The Selah Entrepreneur podcast - let's get started!

In today's episode, we're diving deep into the importance of giving ourselves space to find clarity in our businesses. As entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves caught up in the hustle mentality, constantly juggling tasks and trying to stay on top of everything. But when we don't take the time to pause and reflect, we can easily lose sight of what truly matters and find ourselves feeling stuck and overwhelmed.
That's why making space in our businesses is so crucial. It's about creating the mental and physical room to think, evaluate, and breathe. It's about giving ourselves permission to step back from the daily grind and gain perspective on what's working and what's not.
In this episode, we'll explore practical strategies to create that much-needed space. We'll discuss the power of brain dumping and unsubscribing from distractions, as well as the importance of defining what healthy productivity looks like for each of us. We'll also touch on the concept of "visioneering" and how holding space for our personal and business vision is essential for clarity.
But it's not just about mental space; we'll also delve into the importance of physical space. Our bodies often hold the stress and tension of our busy lives, and if we ignore the physical signs of needing a break, we risk burnout and overwhelm. We'll explore how simple practices like taking a few minutes to breathe and let go of the to-do list can make a real difference in finding clarity and giving our bodies a much-needed break.
So, if you're looking to find clarity in your business and create a sustainable and simplified approach, this episode is for you. Join me as we uncover the power of making space, discovering the essence of your vision, and finding the inspiration and confidence to design a business that truly works for you. If you're ready for a journey of discovery and growth, I'm here to help. Let's dive in and give ourselves the space to find business clarity.

Are you feeling mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained? Is your business leaving you feeling exhausted, even after a good night's sleep? 😴
In this episode of The Selah Entrepreneur podcast, we dive into the topic of rest and why getting more sleep isn't always the solution. Instead, we'll examine the 8 types of rest all entrepreneurs need to avoid burnout and mental exhaustion.
So, what are the key takeaways from this episode?
🔹 Create a "restivity" list: Having a pre-made list of restful activities can be a lifesaver when you're tired but feel like you don't have the time to rest. Aim for five to ten-minute restful activities that can easily be incorporated into your schedule.
🔹 Incorporate mini-retreats: Mini-retreats are a fantastic way to incorporate different types of rest into your routine. Whether it's sensory rest, creative rest, relational rest, emotional rest, or spiritual rest, pick one area that you need and make it a focus for the week.
🔹 Prioritize your unique rest needs: Remember, each individual has unique rest needs based on their personality, business style, health issues, and more. Instead of comparing yourself to others, prioritize your own unique needs and create a personalized restivity plan to replenish your energy and enhance your productivity.
Join Marta Goertzen in the latest episode of The Selah Entrepreneur to discover the types of rest your business needs and how you can incorporate rest into your busy entrepreneur lifestyle.

Do you ever find yourself moving so fast from one thing to the next, only to realize that time has flown by and you are not sure what you really got done?
When we are in a busy season, that can happen a lot. We move from one thing to the next, working hard to check one more thing off of our to-do list.
But, are we even asking ourselves, “Should I be working on this particular task? Is it a good task to focus on or am I doing it just for the satisfaction of crossing it off my list?”
What if, instead, we paused, thought for a moment before creating our to-do list?
What if we paused and took time to consider our goals, our priorities, and values?
If we did, I bet we could create an intentional to-do list instead of frantically writing whatever is on our mind and feels urgent right now.
In today's episode, titled "The Power of the Pause: Why the Habit of Pausing Is Essential for Business Success" we dive into the idea of developing a habit of pausing.
Join us as we explore the importance of taking a moment to appreciate the present, not just in our personal lives but also in our entrepreneurial journeys.

Welcome to another episode of The Selah Entrepreneur.
Today we’ll be diving into one some of the valuable business lessons that we can learn from one of my favorite TV shows, “Growing Floret”.
As entrepreneurs, we often find ourselves in pursuit of building long-lasting, sustainable businesses. And that’s exactly what the show “Growing Floret” emphasizes. The importance of simplicity, serving clients in meaningful ways, and creating businesses that we truly love.
In this episode, we will explore some thought-provoking questions, such as:
Are we are building simple and sustainable businesses we enjoy?
Are we sacrificing ourselves to our businesses?
Does the work we do and the services we provide align with our strengths and values?
Drawing inspiration from Erin, the founder of Floret, we’ll look at the importance of healthy soil and how it directly affects the quality of what we are growing and cultivating in our business.
We’ll learn how nurturing ourselves, potential clients, and maintaining healthy boundaries can contribute to the sustainability of our businesses.
Join me as we uncover the lessons from “Growing Floret” and apply them to our own entrepreneurial journeys. Get ready to be inspired and empowered to create the business works for you.

Welcome back to another episode of The Selah Entrepreneur! I'm your host, Marta Goertzen, and today we're diving deep into the four steps of The PACE Method (TM) to finding clarity in your business.
In a world filled with busyness and constant hustle, it's easy to believe that resting and saying no to opportunities is lazy or wrong in business. But what if I told you that slowing down, pausing, and taking time to rest and think could actually be the key to unlocking business clarity?
I know, it might sound a bit terrifying at first. Busyness wants us to stay in fear and constant action, convincing us that everything is important and urgent. But what if I told you that by pausing and creating space, you can tap into critical and strategic thinking and gain a clearer perspective on your business?
That's where The PACE Method comes in.
In our last episode, I gave you an overview of this powerful four-step cycle that can guide you towards finding the clarity you've been searching for. Today, we're taking a closer look at each step and how it can transform your entrepreneurial journey.
So, if you're ready to take charge of your business clarity and become a proactive and strategic leader, this episode is for you.
Remember, clarity starts with taking breaks, resting, and creating space for reflection.
It's time to embrace the Selah mindset and rethink the speed of your life and business.
Stay tuned as we dive into The PACE Method and guide you on your journey from confusion to clarity.
And, as always, if you need some extra support in finding clarity and implementing The PACE Method, or if you simply want to work from a place of rest, I'm here to help. Schedule a clarity call at https://SelahStudios.co/discovery and let's create a plan that will lead you towards the clarity and success you deserve.
Let's get started and find that business clarity together on The Selah Entrepreneur!

Are you feeling stuck looking for clarity in your business?
When we are seeking clarity in our business and what we feel called to do, we have this desire to sprint to the finish line and get to the answer fast.
Hate to break it to you, but that’s now how clarity comes. You will have major breakthroughs and oh wow moments along the journey, which are truly fun and energizing. And fun to share, I might add! The journey of clarity, however, comes through time, effort, thinking, prayer, and seeking wise counsel.
Instead of sprinting to the finish line in search of an answer, think of this more like a marathon. You set a pace that works for you so that you are on this entrepreneurial journey for the long-haul and not burning yourself out.
In your journey to clarity, you need to set your pace (aka run your race) because there is work to do along the way. If you are running too fast, you will simply skim the surface. Skimming makes you miss the questions and the opportunity to dig deep for answers that can change you, your life, and your business.
Today, I’m excited to share with you to my “PACE MethodTM to Business Clarity.”
The clarity cycle includes:
P is for Pause
A is for Assess
C is for Clarify
E is for Evaluate
Listen in and learn how to apply my PACE MethodTM to your clarity journey.
