Doing Business Gently: Business Clarity and Personal Branding for Women with Online Service Based Businesses

Business Clarity, Alignment & Personal Branding for Women. ** Do you ever wonder if there is a different way to do business?  ** Have you ever felt like something was wrong with you because your business feels so hard? ** Or have you ever asked yourself, shouldn’t I know what I want to be when I grow up by now? Maybe you’re a massive introvert, shy, or considered an HSP, a highly sensitive person, or maybe you feel like you’ve never really fit into what and who the standard online business coaching says you need to be in your business. Does any of this sound familiar? I’m raising my hand as a founding member of that club. Welcome fellow misfit. Hey there. I’m Marta Goertzen, host of the Doing Business Gently podcast. If your business feels hard and nowhere near gentle, I’m glad you are here. This is a safe place where we will be talking about: ** Life business integration, and we approach that idea of integration through creating an aligned business that fits you, your values and priorities, your personality, and the current season of life you are currently in. ** We also do that by talking about finding business clarity so that you’re not constantly second guessing every decision that you make in your business. ** And maybe even more importantly, we are going to talk about working from a habit and a place of rest. ** From time to time, we’re also going to ask the question, where does our faith fit into our entrepreneurial journey as we are creating a gentle business? If you are ready for tips, ideas, resources, and engaging conversations on developing healthy business habits and routines to help you uncover, or maybe remember your entrepreneurial identity,  build a strong personal brand that grows with you and how to build a business based on your values and priorities, you are in the right place.  The goal of this podcast is to help women just like you develop online businesses that honors your need for rest, create a flexible and agile business that fits the current season of life you are in and the space to figure it all out. When was the last time you were asked, “How are you doing? Really”?
And how did you answer?
Running a business, no matter the type, is not a straightforward road. It's an adventure filled with highs and lows, moments of focus and distraction, and unexpected twists and turns. Just like in any personal development program, our clarity journey involves layers of discovery and answers that gradually unfold as we take action.
Your Business Clarity Journey is Your Own
Do you ever find yourself comparing our journey to others? We need to remember that each business and individual experience is unique. We all face different challenges, be it health issues, familial responsibilities, mental health struggles, or the daily hurdles of entrepreneurship.
As a result, we often find ourselves comparing our progress to someone else's highlight reel on social media. We must remember that everyone's journey is different, and there's no fixed timeline for growth and success.
Our business journeys are unique, filled with twists and turns. It's not a straight line, and that's OKAY! We need to stop comparing ourselves to others and embrace the adventure of our own path.
Comparison leads to self-doubt and discounting our own achievements. We need to STOP belittling what we're going through and acknowledge the hard work and dedication it took to get where we are today.
Social media can be deceiving. Remember that what people show online is often a polished version of reality. Don't compare your chapter 2 or 3 to someone else's chapter 10. Your progress is valid, no matter the pace.
It's essential to recognize and respect our own experiences without belittling or discounting what we're going through.
Clarity in business takes time. It's not an instant revelation but a journey of self-discovery and growth. Be patient with yourself and trust the process. Each step forward, no matter how small, is progress.
Next time you catch yourself comparing, ask yourself why and take a moment to reflect on how you're really doing. Embrace your unique journey, stop discounting your achievements, and celebrate the progress you've made.
Embrace your uniqueness, stay focused on your goals, and trust that clarity will come in due time.
As always, I’m here to support you in your entrepreneurial journey. If you have any questions, need guidance, or simply want to connect with like-minded individuals, don't hesitate to reach out. Together, we can navigate the ups and downs and create a thriving business that brings joy and fulfillment.

Welcome to another episode of The Selah Entrepreneur podcast. I'm your host, Marta Goertzen, and I'm excited to dive into a topic that I'm truly passionate about - the benefits of keeping a Commonplace Journal for your business.
Now, before you start picturing a dear diary kind of journal, let me assure you that this is a whole different ballgame. We're not talking about pouring out in a “Dear Diary” type of journaling practice. This is about creating a tangible space to capture the valuable ideas, insights, and reflections that come our way in our entrepreneurial journey.
For years, I've been an avid collector of quotes, filling countless notebooks and digital folders with the wisdom I've stumbled upon. But my favorite method by far is using a Commonplace Journal, also known as a “Thinker's Notebook”. It's a centralized place where I can record all the interesting ideas, quotes, and resources that cross my path, as well as reflect on them and delve deeper into their meaning and application.
I know many of us entrepreneurs are collectors of ideas and resources. We attend courses, download e-books, and gather inspiration from various sources. However, without a structured way to engage with this information, it often gets lost or forgotten. That's where a Commonplace Journal comes in. It allows us to pause, review, evaluate, and truly absorb the knowledge we acquire. It also helps us identify patterns, connect different ideas, and find new insights that we might have otherwise missed.
In this episode, we'll explore how a Commonplace Journal can be a valuable tool in our entrepreneurial and clarity journeys. We'll discuss how it can help us organize our thoughts, preserve important information, and spark creative connections. So, whether you're a notebook lover like me or simply seeking a more intentional way to engage with the information overload, this episode is for you.
So grab your favorite notebook and a pen, and join me as we dive into the world of Commonplace Journaling for business.
If you're tired of endlessly searching for the answers and ready to take control of your entrepreneurial path, you're in the right place. Together, we'll uncover the truth behind the noise, find joy in serving others, and create a business that brings fulfillment and success. So let's dive in and start this transformative journey together. Welcome to The Selah Entrepreneur podcast!

Essentialism, Business Clarity and Growth, and Quarterly Business Reviews
Have you ever read a book that completely altered your perspective? One that changed the way you view the world and your business? That's exactly what happened to me when I read "Essentialism" by Greg McKeown.
In this book, McKeown shares the concept of “essentialism”, which revolves around making better decisions about how we allocate our time and energy. One practice he recommends is conducting a quarterly off-site review to evaluate our decisions and align them with our values.
Inspired by McKeown's ideas, I started implementing my own version of the review routine as a “Quarterly Business Review”. This practice has become a vital component of my entrepreneurial journey, helping me become an intentional and strategic business owner. I've witnessed firsthand how it helps keep me focused, motivated, and aligned with my goals and vision.
During the episode, I dive into the importance of quarterly reviews and how they can benefit your business. We discuss:
Connecting with your purpose and big why
Evaluating your calendar and commitments
Assessing the status of your goals
Setting new goals for the upcoming quarter
Making better decisions in your day-to-day operations
Recognizing when outside help may be necessary
Becoming a more intentional and strategic business leader
Don't miss this opportunity to gain clarity, boost productivity, and enhance your business! Remember, success comes from being intentional and regularly assessing our choices.
Tune in now and unlock the power of conducting quarterly business reviews in six easy steps.

We'll explore the struggles of being a people pleaser and the impact it can have on both our personal and professional lives.
We'll also discuss the importance of simplifying and streamlining various aspects of our lives, from caregiving responsibilities to marketing strategies. I'll provide practical tips on how to evaluate what is working and address any kinks in the system.
Throughout the episode, we'll touch on the delicate balance between accommodating others and prioritizing ourselves. I'll open up about my experiences with clients, self-care, and the eye-opening moment when I realized that I can meet both my senior dog's needs and my own.
Lastly, we'll explore the challenges women, entrepreneurs, and caregivers face with the tendency to be people pleasers and accommodators. I'll share strategies for finding this balance and the importance of asking for what you need, even when it feels uncomfortable.
